State of the week: Pennsylvania

PGATour.com - 1 hour 29 min ago
Where are we? The Keystone State. Home of the nation's first capital, the Amish and Big Ben Roethlisberger, Pennsylvania is one of the biggest states in the northeast stretching from New Jersey to the Great Lakes. With a rich industrial as well as political history, Pennsylvania is just as much a vacation spot for history buffs as it is for golfers -- handy if you're into both pastimes.

Live notes: PLAYERS, Rd. 2

PGATour.com - 2 hours 44 min ago
THE 'BOO' BIRDS: With his homespun ways and aw-shucks demeanor, Boo Weekley has become something of a cult hero in the last two years. The man who lives in a town of less than 800 understandably is still adjusting to all the scrutiny.

Weekley and Kim becoming fast friends, nature lovers

PGATour.com - 3 hours 1 min ago
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Boo Weekley is fast becoming a Pete Dye aficionado. Now, he'd probably tell you he doesn't know what that word means, of course, but Weekley's a fan, nonetheless.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- When he was six years old, Anthony Kim, who lacks for confidence the way Warren Buffett lacks for pocket change, already harbored ambitious athletic endeavors.

FedExCup notes: THE PLAYERS day two

PGATour.com - 8 hours 25 min ago
Player: Phil Mickelson Rank: 2nd Points: 10,571 Obviously, at second in the FedExCup points standings, Mickelson is playing well. But his win at the Northern Trust Open obscures just how well he's playing. He is second in average points per start, and fifth in average points per start excluding wins. With the exception of his missed cut at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Mickelson has not been outside the top 25 in any of his 9 other starts, including a first, a second, a tied for fifth and a tie for sixth.

PGATour.com - 8 hours 45 min ago
WHAT THIS MEANS: Below are the official pin sheets that players will be carrying along with their yardage books in the second round of THE PLAYERS Championship on Friday. The number that is underlined to the left of each circle indicates the length of the green in paces (or yards). The numbers inside the circles indicate how many paces the pin is located from the front of the green and the left or right edges of the green.

FORT SMITH, Ark. -- Tommy Gainey and Matt Weibring aren't complaining after shooting 6-under-par 64s Thursday in the opening round of the Fort Smith Classic. Kris Cox was admittedly surprised to post his best round of the year, a 64 as well.

JOAN T. ALEXANDER: Thank you for joining us for a few minutes in the media center at THE PLAYERS Championship, nice start to your week, 6-under 66, and I was noticing that you did very well on your last two rounds here in 2007. Does that kind of carry over? I guess so. This is definitely one of my favorite courses, so it's always nice to go back to a place where you've done well and you feel comfortable. You know, I'm just looking forward to keep doing the same things, keep hitting the ball well, keep chipping well and keep putting well and then hopefully by the end of the week, we'll be where we are supposed to be.
